Thermal curing – this is a very efficient process in the production of compounds in which two types of materials are used:
SMC- sheet moulding compound, - laminate consisting of resin, glass fibre and fillers in the form of sheets,
BMC – bulk moulding compound, - a compound consisting of resin, glass fibre and fillers in the form of dense mass, different from SMC in form, lower glass content and the use of shorter fibres.
A thermal curing process consists in pressing a raw material in a hot mould (130-160°C) under high pressure which makes the material spread inside the mould. The whole cycle takes a few minutes.
